Went for a job interview this morning and I was there from 9.00 a.m. until 11.30 a.m., a lengthy interview, actually it was more of a chat that anything else. I had a casual chat with the Senior General Manager (he was pretty impressed with my CV)and then with the Deputy C.E.O which was a bit serious after all the small talk. It went on smoothly until he came across my asking salary, which he indicated was a bit too high. So I reduced it a bit and I guess he still felt that I am asking too much. Well why can't he just tell me what the bottom line is and whether I can accept that figure instead of telling me that it is a demand and supply issue (am I a commodity or something like that). And mind you, this morning I received so many phone calls as I had urgent matters to take care off at work (out of all the days).
Anyway I didn't budge from my asking salary after the discount I gave them. And he told me that he would let me know in 2 or 3 days time. Well I am in no hurry here as I already have a job in hand and if he wants me quickly then he has to decide. I always believe that when they say 2 or 3 days, it actually means "sorry, better luck next time". Anyway I will keep you posted on this outcome, whether 2 or 3 days is actually 2 to 3 days!
This is my first interview ever since I came back from my overseas posting and it's nice to know that I am still marketable. Maybe I shouldn't stretch my luck too much huh.
